Junior AI & Machine Learning Engineer

Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and curious AI/ML Software Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are early in their careers, currently studying, or returning to the workforce, and are keen to build practical experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

This is a part-time, fully remote role, requiring availability 5 days per week (4 hours per day).

About the Role

As an AI/ML Software Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers and practitioners to support the development and delivery of AI-driven solutions. This role is designed to provide hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world exposure to modern AI/ML and cloud-based technologies.

We value attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn above all else. If you are enthusiastic about technology and eager to grow, we encourage you to apply.

What You'll Work On

  • Support the development and enhancement of AI/ML solutions.
  • Assist with data processing, model experimentation, and testing activities.
  • Contribute to cloud-based deployments and basic automation tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and improve system performance.
  • Participate in learning and development activities to build technical capability.
  • Deploy Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI solutions.
  • Fine Tune and Train Large Language Model (LLM) applications.
  • Support Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) platforms.
  • Test AI-powered business automation solutions.
  • Deploy and support Cloud-native applications on Azure and AWS.
  • Demonstrate AI governance and compliance initiatives to clients.

Key Requirements

  • Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/assessment-process)

Technical Expectations (Foundational Level)

  • Applicants should be comfortable writing basic scripts, working with functions and data structures, and using development tools such as Git.
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts (Azure or AWS preferred).
  • Exposure to or strong interest in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models (LLMs).

What We Are Looking For

  • A proactive and positive attitude towards learning and problem-solving.
  • Strong curiosity and willingness to explore new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

Please note: prior professional experience is not essential. We are more interested in your mindset and potential than your current level of technical expertise.

What We Offer

  • Hands-on experience working on real-world AI/ML projects.
  • Ongoing mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.
  • Exposure to modern tools, cloud platforms, and emerging AI technologies.
  • A flexible and supportive remote working environment.
  • Advance Python software development.
  • Real world hands-on cloud engineering fundamentals.

Due to the nature of some client engagements, applicants must be Australian Citizens and eligible to obtain an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance.

Applicants should be available Monday to Friday and able to commit approximately 4 hours per day. Working hours can be arranged flexibly.
